I have a weird relationship with my hair. On the one hand, I often let it air-dry and do its own thing; on the other, when I actually have to blow it out and make it look nice, I want it to look really good, especially now that I’m growing it out for the wedding. It’s taken me awhile, but I’ve finally narrowed down my hair-care regimen to three can’t-live-without products–all of which happen to last a long time, and which work for both super-casual hair days as well as fancy ones. Here they are.
Shu Umera Cleansing Oil shampoo and conditioner – Real talk: This shampoo and conditioner are not cheap, and I cringed a little when I handed over my credit card at the salon. But I kid you not, they’ve lasted me 11 months (I bought them in January), and I wash my hair almost daily, so when you think about cost-per-use, well, that helps a lot. I love it because it makes my locks feel clean but not stripped, it keeps my hair from getting oily around my forehead and it smells great (like bergamot). Highly, highly recommend.
Kerastase Ciment Thermique – I initially bought this because it smells intensely like grapefruit and I love a good citrus scent. But it’s such a great product, too–I massage a pea-sized amount through my damp hair and then blow dry, and I swear it cuts the drying time in half (and it seems to make my hair smoother and less frizzy, too). Best of all: It doesn’t leave any greasy residue, even on day two.
Klorane dry shampoo with oat milk – Before I got my mitts on this, I was about to give up on my search for great dry shampoo, especially after having a disappointing experience with Oribe’s dry texturizing spray–so many people rave about it as a miracle product, and while it smells great, it did absolutely nothing for my hair. But Klorane’s dry shampoo–which a friend gave me–is amazing. You spray it on at the roots, leave it in for two minutes (while scaring your significant other with the Cruella deVille-esque white streaks you’ve got going on) and then brush it through. After using it, my hair feels cleaner, lighter and more volumized. I love it and would like to order it in bulk, please.
