I have the best hairdresser, friends. Her name is Bethany and she’s the owner of downtown Sarasota’s Fresh Salon and she’s awesome. She introduced me to the shampoo that changed my life and she gives me a great haircut every time I go in to see her. Plus, talking to her is like chatting with an old friend.

A couple of times, Bethany has mentioned to me that I might consider balyage, but I’ve been hesitant because last time I did so (with a different stylist), my hair ended up turning, um, orange. But lately, I’ve been wanting to make a change (probably because our wedding is coming up soon-ish and I feel like now’s the time to do it, since I know I’ll want my usual dark color for our pictures) and this seems like a good way to do it–you know, as opposed to dying my hair blonde, which is something I asked R. about as a joke and then started to seriously consider. The photo above–of Mandy Moore (who, randomly, went to my high school–fun fact!)–embodies what I’d want it to look like: Natural, caramel-y and just a little lighter.

Thoughts? Do you color your hair? Ever gotten balyage? I’d love to hear.

I’ve totally been considering balyage too – it looks so pretty. But I’ve got the dreaded grey at the top and last time I did dyed it was so hard trying to do the roots and not the rest so I might just go lighter all the way through to make it easier. If you do. I want instagram pics! X

I will definitely post pics if I do! I’m still totally undecided, but every time I look at this photo I’m like, “It’s so preeeeeeetty.”
