Today I am 31, which feels impossibly grown-up. 31? How?
I celebrated by eating a chocolate croissant for breakfast, and I’m taking Friday off to go to a morning Pure Barre class, get my hair cut and treat myself to a much-needed pedicure. The rest of the weekend will be spent with friends, family, dogs and cats in total relaxation mode, and I couldn’t be more excited.
Also, here are some things I learned in my 30th year that I’d like to take with me to 31:
You function infinitely better when you get up earlier. Even though I haaaaaate-hate-hate doing this, I find that I am a much more productive human being when I get up for early-morning workouts. I think it has something to do with my sleep cycle, and I don’t entirely understand it, but there you go.
Surround yourself with people who genuinely believe in and support you. Enough said.
If you are ever on the fence about adopting a dog, and you are able to do it, just do. The amount of joy that little wagging ball of fur will bring to your life is immeasurable. I thank my lucky stars for Rambo every single day.
Take care of yourself. Regular exercise, healthy eating and just going to the damn doctor will do wonders for your everything. Especially your peace of mind.
Living with someone will teach you a lot about the way you communicate (and behave in general), and how to be better at it. Always keep working on being better at it.
Just be kind. More about that here.
Have a wonderful weekend, friends. xox
