So, those of you who follow me on Twitter and Instagram know that I had an epically bad Thursday: I thought I broke my arm thanks to a nasty fall; my car battery died far from home and my AAA membership had, unbeknownst to me, expired–it was just awful. It was so epically awful, in fact, that I know I’ll look back on it later and laugh. Just not yet.
Anyway, in lieu of a more thought-out post–and because I’m typing with one hand–here’s a little list for Friday, taken from the lovely Erin of Design for Mankind. If you feel like filling it out yourself, please do–and let me know! I love reading these things.
Reading: The Goldfinch (still; I got behind. Still loving it, too Also this month’s Bon Appetit, which is my favorite magazine and the only one I still subscribe to).
Wanting: To finish unpacking the house; to do another closet edit; to make a decision about a rug, already (tassels or no tassels? That is the question).
Looking: Forward to the weekend. This week has been a doozy, man.
Playing: Catch-up all the time, it feels like. Hoping next month will be a bit calmer.
Wasting: Time on the Internet, as usual.
Sewing: …um, nothing. I cannot sew.
Wishing: My left arm wasn’t in this damn sling.
Enjoying: The beginning of the year, which despite the craziness of late always feels full of possibility.
Waiting: For my arm to feel better.
Liking: That the sun stays out later every day.
Wondering: What February will be like.
Loving: ACS. Aside from my craziness, he hasn’t had a very two good weeks and he still manages to make me toast with butter and honey in the morning, help me dress and just generally be so, so kind and wonderful.
Needing: To shower, but I want to finish this first.
Smelling: Like Estee Lauder’s Tuberose Gardenia, which is hands-down my favorite scent.
Wearing: My sling and what I now affectionately refer to as my cold weather suit–sweatshirt, T-shirt, sweatpants, socks, bedroom slippers. I told you it’s been cold.
Following: Kate’s Instagram feed, which is especially beautiful of late.
Noticing: How clean our house is. We had a cleaning lady come this week and I’m pretty sure it’s the best money I’ve ever spent.
Knowing: That I get to sleep in this weekend, woohoo.
Thinking: Too much, always.
Feeling: Achy, hopeful for a good weekend, glad it’s Friday.
Bookmarking: This wonderful essay about Marcella Hazan by her husband, Victor, in our February issue.
Opening: Hm…emails? Word docs? WordPress posts?
Giggling: At ACS talking to himself in a random German accent (?!).
Photo: My Zadie-girl, just because.
