30 DAYS OF GRATITUDE, DAY 1: SUNSHINE

November 1, 2013

Sarasota sunset

So.

I haven’t been the best blogger as of late. And recently I’ve found myself getting caught up in the busy trap–thinking about how busy I am, how crazy the next few weeks are going to be, how it’s almost the end of 2013 (seriously, what?), how soon the holidays are going to be here–you know the drill. It’s enough to make anyone a little anxious. And I’m an anxious enough person to begin with.

So I thought, in an effort to slow down (and reconnect with my blog, in a way), I’d write down something I’m thankful for every day. Sometimes this will be in addition to my usual content, sometimes in lieu of. Sometimes these little gratitude posts are going to come at odd times. Sometimes, I’m sure, it’ll be a struggle to come up with something. But the point is to just get them out and hopefully remind myself that there’s more to this time of year than hazy rushingness.

And here’s my first one: I’m grateful for sunshine. I complain a lot about living in Florida–mainly about the heat. But we have so many gorgeous, sunny, blue days, even in the middle of winter. I always say that I’m not sure I could live in a state that has a long gray winter, because I’m pretty sure I’d develop Seasonal Affective Disorder. So I’m lucky to say that I don’t have that problem here at all. Hooray for sunshine.

Stay tuned for more…and if you guys decide to do something similar, will you please share? I’d love to read.

What a lovely initiative! I fall into the busy trap too, and often make excuses for not just “getting it done” when it comes to finishing up a blog post. I’ll be following along through this thankful month.
